My Journey
II’ve always been captivated by the natural beauty that surrounds us—the way light dances across landscapes, the subtle hues in the sky, and the intricate details found in everyday moments. My fascination with color and light is more than an aesthetic; it’s about capturing the essence of a scene and the emotions it evokes. I spend time truly observing the world around me, seeking to understand the deeper meaning or story behind each subject. Whether I’m photographing nature, people, or places, my goal is to tell a story that resonates with viewers and stirs something inside them. To me, every image is an opportunity to evoke emotion and inspire connection, transforming simple moments into lasting memories.
My professional journey started when a friend posted a very captivating autumn scene of Gatineau Park showing the foliage glory in it’s fullest on social media. That picture pushed me to buying my first camera, a Canon T8i. With no experience on how to operate it, I set to buy three lenses that day from Kijjiji - a wide angle, a telephoto and a nifty fifty. A bold, risky and questionable move for someone who didn’t even know how to mount the lens on the camera body. The seller of one of the lens was kind enough to then show me how to use the camera and educated me on what to look for when buying used lens - I was extremely lucky indeed as all the lens were near mint and for a bargain. This camera paved the way for me to understand what makes a good composition and forced me to be intentional with my takes.
After getting more comfortable with landscape I ventured into the city and started doing some street photography. I visited New York and learnt how to capture the moment from the abundance of activity on the streets. From hot dog stands to backed up traffic and competing sounds it truly taught me how to isolate subjects and to be more perceptive on what is happening around me. All of this helped me taking on family shots and finally creating art that people enjoy today.
